Passengers on the 07:15 from Brighton to London Victoria received an unexpected surprise on Monday morning when 19 year old Sean Johnson treated them all to an impromptu rendition of ‘Low’ by Flo-Rida. After boarding the train at Croydon, Johnson unexpectedly took out his Nokia N95 and began playing the song at full volume with the phone’s built in MP3 player, whilst bobbing his head in time with the music and glancing awkwardly around the carriage at fellow passengers.

Jane Weaver, a 47 year old HR director with JP Morgan said “It was absolutely amazing, you just don’t expect this kind of thing to happen to you. Everybody was just sitting quietly, reading the Metro or looking out of the window, and then suddenly we could all hear a tedious provincial nightclub floor-filler being pumped out of a tinny mobile phone speaker. It really brightened up everybody’s journey and put a smile on my face for the rest of the day.”

A spokesman for Southern Rail informed us that performance art is prohibited on its trains without a special permit, although in this instance it would turn a blind eye. “We don’t want to be seen as heavy handed spoil-sports, and who doesn’t enjoy a little urban-electrohop first thing in the morning?”
